If you meet the requirements listed below and are interested in becoming a referee at Afrim’s Sports, please come in to our Colonie facility to fill out an employment application and submit it to Erin. Please bring along a copy of your referee certification and driver’s license.
Requirements:
- Referee Certification
- Flexibility - we have games that start as early as 4:30pm on weekdays and as late as 11:00pm!
- Experience is preferred!!
- Ability to work well with others (this includes Afrim’s Sports staff as well as the teams/coaches that play here!)
- Enthusiasm
- Positioning - moving with the play up and down the field! NOT JUST STANDING STILL!!
- Timliness - being "on time" for a referee is being here at least 15 minutes before the start of your assigned game! Keeping games on schedule is also extremely important!
- Professionalism
Things to Remember:
- You are responsible for providing your own uniform and equipment!
- Referee shirt (bring 2 colors), black athletic shorts/pants, whistle, yellow/red cards
- Hours are not guaranteed and are based on your performance and attitude!
- You will be evaluated twice each session!
- If you issue a red card, you must notify the front desk of the player’s full name, number, and team.
- Keep all games on time! Games start every 55 minutes and each game has 2 25-minute halfs. This means there is not much time in between halfs and games! Losing a minute here and a minute there can make a HUGE difference by the end of the night!
- You are responsible for controlling the game!
- Please err on the side of caution... better to make more calls than less!!
